4. In what ways do the prisoners survive through their base instincts?

they would have to obey the german officers otherwise they would get shot. they would also have to hide and steal the food because they can't get enough to eat. sometimes it takes a little bit of luck to be alive.

In the concentration camp, it's pretty much an "every man for himself" scenario. They look after themselves, and themselves only. For example, many children would steal their own parents food just to stay alive. Those that stayed in the camps often became corrupted in their need to survive.

The prisoners are much more greedy so that they can survive. They steal and take food from the weak so that they can live. Because giving up there and not looking out for your self means death.

The prisoners survive through using their base instincs, by not attracting attention to themselves. Claw and fight foe something they need (air, bread) and take any opportunity to get extra food, anyone whos dies, gives them an advantage for more food, less competition. Eventually it shrinks down to only caring about themselves and care not for the dead or dieing.

they survuve be they no longer can focus on others they have to only focus on themseves and them alone. like when someone gets beatin for example no one steps up cause they know if they stay out of the way they have a better chance of surviving.

The prisoners survive by taking everything they can get. For example, in the cattle car, a man and his son are killed because of the fight for bread. They dont mind killing people they dont know because it means they just have one less mouth to feed. This is portrayed when a random guy starts strangling Elie, until Meir Katz saves him.

they survive in ways that are really selfish. if more people die, you have a better chance of surviving. at this point the only thing you can think about is yourself, and staying alive. A feeling like that makes you make choices that in the future you would regret. They stole, they let people die, they even moved on without their own flesh and blood.

In the camps the conditions that they are living under are so bad that they have to resort to their base instincts just to survive. It has resulted to an every man for himself scene. There is no heling out anyone who is in need. If someone is to die, than that means that you have a better chance. This also results in cave-man-like behavior. Clawing at each other, bitting and killing.

our base instincts are our base instincts for a reason. The reason being that instincts are meant for survival. If we were to take other people's needs into consideration we would neglect our own. And by doing so we would die. Base instincts are entirely selfish and allow us to focus only on ourselves.

If you don't have worry about others all of the time, and only worry about yourself, then you could have a better chance of surviving. Living in the concentration camps is like living "every man for himself." You need to take care of yourself first in order to surive.

Basic instincts= want to get food, to survive, to stay hydrated, survial of the fitest mantality. The prisoners get as much food for them selfs even if it means to risk life. in the begining they shared there rations but in the end they ate it and kept the food to them selfs beacuse if you made it this far then dieing now would be a waste. so eating and staying alive is absolute

they survived by stealing food from others. they fought and trampled eachother in order to survive. they didnt care about the well beings of others, they only cared about themselves getting through this ordeal alive.

They have to look out for themselves in the camp. For an example elie was talking about how the children would take ther own parent's ration of soup and bread so they can survive.

They have to survive through the things that they were taught growing up. Those things, like politeness, will only hinder them in their fight for survival. They needed the food, and they just can't ask someone for it, they have to take it.

they revert to a situation where they only care about food they decide not todraw attention to themselves when some one else is in trouble they go to a situation where only they and the food matter

A very good example of this is whilst on the train to Aushwitz when Elie witnesses men "ripping each other apart", fighting for loafs of bread which the Germans throw into the train. These men are so hungry that they are willing to take a life so they may continue their own.

That when they see people die they have more chance of getting bread. Kids want's their parent dead to get more bread.

TO get more bread when their parents die. The same goes for other people. Its like a chain.

its an every man for himself aspect and they dont want to risk their lives for others. there for they want to get out of the camp alive!
and in order to survive they have to eat and drink, and stay alive.

After a while, their base instincts were to just follow what the SS officers told them. They just took it one day at a time. If they made it through each day, it was a day closer to the end of this terrible thing.

The prisoners just basically take care of themselves. They don't care who get's in their way of food or just to live. The prisoners do what they are told and just live a day at a time. And if they are close to death or have a difficult situation they use these base instincts.

They have to try to survive by stealing food because they dont get enough to eat. They also have to try to listen to the german officers because if they dont listen to them, then they will get killed.

In a concentration camp...It's every man for himself, and they know it. They must look out for their own survival before anyone else's or they would die.

The prisoners couldnt look out for others and themselves while they were in the camp. They had to take care of themselves first and that was it. Everyone just wanted to stay alive so thats what they tried to do.
