1. Respond to the quote by Elie Wiesel.

"I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."  --Elie Wiesel

How does this quote apply to your school, your community, country, world?

this qoute applies to our school because if people at our school do not stand up against the bullys they will never stop bullying, similar things happen in every other facet of our lives and if we don't stand up against injustice then it will never go away

This is revelent to us in multiple ways. One of which is related to being eyewitness to crimes (be it little crimes or crimes that affect a whole nation). All of us will experience some sort of crime in our lives. If we are silent the bad guy will always win. No one benefits from us remaining silent. It is important to learn from history so a crime as big as the holocaust will never happen again.

I think this applies because people today don't seem to understand this topic of people suffering world wide and if you look at big businesses this shows exactly whats on their minds. Like When they go to sell some thing they don't think of the consumer or what they want out of the deal they just sell what they think is going to make the most money.

i think that it apply to our world. because some people do suffer in more ways thatn one, it might not be starvation, but they could be having troubles with money, family, and such. It's hard to hear the things that people go through. But it's life and i think that everyone goes through hard times, some just arn't as bad.

If people were to listen to Elie Wiesel's quote, and never be silent whenever human beings are enduring suffering and humiliation, then the world would be a better place. People would feel safer and more comfortable in their school, and in their community. There would be less bystanders, and more of people who stick up for others.

This quote applies to our lives/community and school because at school, people should pick their friends wisely and stand up for eachother. In the community people should say whats on their mind instead of keeping silent and have life pass them.

This is exactly what happens to us because when we witness something we stay quite. Since we stay quit, the person that does the damage gets away with it and keeps on doing it. You have to say what you believe in in order to get what you want

It applys to senarios that we go throught today. not in that big of a scale but still. If you fel somthing is wrong then stand up for it and make it right, dont just sit around and waite for others to stand up for you."We must always take sides" Choose your side (my blog doesnt make sence)

At school, there are people that get made fun of because of their race, religon, or culture. We should be the ones that stand up for them like Elie Wiesel would. According to this quote, we should never be the the people that stand by and let them get humiliated or even hurt. A lot of the time you see people being discriminated against and everyone else is just standing by and watching. Like Elie says, "We must always take sides." Everyone should be supportive of one another and then we would be able to follow Elie's great example.

I think that it means he will stand up to people that are being tormented
by other people. And we should take sides to the one that is being attacked and shouldn't stay neutral because that will always help the person that is being tormented by the victim and he wants to stick up for the people who are avoided by silence and neutrality.

I think that this quote relates to many different parts of society. Many people try to turn a blind eye the bad in society and block them out. If it doesn't directly affect them then they won't do anything to change it. If people were to listen to the words of Elie Wiesel then many people could be helped. Nothing is going to change unless we change it.

I agree with most of this quote. However, I disagree with the part, "Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." Silence is neither good nor evil, and can therefore never encourage one way or the other (although it may allow one side to continue doing something, instead of doing the "good" thing to try and stop the "bad" side). However, people should not stay quiet when some other person is being treated poorly. It may not be bad to stay silent, but it most certainly isn't good. It only allows what is, to continue on. This is what has happened throughout many minorities in the world, involving race, sexuality, religion, etc., in everywhere from a country on the other side of the world to our own school.

During WW2 the U.S. was a neutral county for part of the war letting cruelty and death destroy the jewish lives of Europe. By being a bystandard and not trying to change something cruel that is happening you are just hindering them.

He is trying to tell the entire world to always take a stand to have world peace on everybody by helping people get justice so that we can try to have world peace. the big step is to try to get to know someone better so that you will know what's going on in his life. there are many things you can do to have world peace.

The very idea of apathy has enabled the horrors of the world to continue. The electing of a dictator, the passing of an unjust law - even wars, have happened because enough people did not stand up for what they believe to be morally right.

This quote applies to our daily lives because injustices happen every day, and more often than not, people usually ignore it and don't help out, often using the excuse that "it's not their problem." For example, if someone refuses to stand up for a person who is being bullied, later in life when it's the bystander who needs help, there might not be anyone to help them out. As other people have stated, we need to stand up for one another, so as the injustice wont be commited again.

We really do have to take sides. it really reflects on what goes on in school life every day. some how its this group or the other. sooner or later people stand up for themselves and show what they care for and what matters. otherwise these sides and issues would never end.

This quote applies to our school because we need to stand up for what we want and not just sit on the side-lines watching. We don't just have to stand up to bullies but we need to also let people know what we want and what we would like to change. We can make a difference in our community, country, and world if we let our voices be heard.

you take sides and stand up for your self.

He is trying to say that he is going to try to stop all of the bad things that are going on. He will keep trying to stop it until he dies.

This applies to everyone in the world because everyone is a victim, a bystander or the oppressor. If we can take Elie Wiesel's advice, then the world will be much safer and people won't have to live in fear.

This quote applies to school by people more recently not been standing up to help people now a days, just standing and watching. This applies to the world by everyone having a decision, the world kind of forces people to make a decision.
This quote applies to school like in a fight, if you stand still, being neutral, you're attacker will just keep punching you till ya keel over, or someone decides to intervene. I agree that being neutral just helps the tormentor.

I can't find the second question that we are supposed to answer. I've checked saturday and Sunday and still can't find it.

I can't find the second question either.

If we keep scilent then no change will ever happen. Choosing sides is better then not choosing either, or being indifferent. If you supported Hitler then mabey join the SS, if you were aginst it then speek up and form a group of protest or something. Either way just saysomething. If you dont speek up(or vote) then you have no right to complain about things you dont like because you never did anything to stop it. So guess what im trying to say is this applys to politics and goverment particiaption

I think that this quote applies to our lives because everyday people go through hard times and someone needs to stand up for them or nothing will ever be done about it. Nobody should be silent because we will never get anything accomplished that way. People should stand up for what they believe in and have a voice.
