6. How would the end of the book be different if Elie had written about the period of time between his father's death and April 11th? (p. 113)

He probably also would have described how he had to pass other slections and seeing other people die and the hardships that he had to go through and events that lead up to when they let the Jews go.

I think that he would make it more about himself. Throughout the book he is always talking about his father and how he is the only thing he has left in his life, and now that he is gone, the story would be more about his struggle, instead of their struggles of staying together.

I think that it would make it seem more alone and more horrid. Because at the end of the book you see Elie go through this horrible phase of his father dieing but then there is some relief because the rebellion in the camp stops them from leaving and the Americans show up.

I believe that, had the book continued, it would have included more of the struggles that he went through during the period of time before he was liberated. There wouldn't be much of a difference, aside from the fact that he would be going through these struggles alone.

I think that if Elie were to write about the time he went through without his father the end of the book would have been more intense. He had gotten through everything because of his father and it would have been a huge contrast of him leading his life without his father. At the very end of the book he was physically free, but during the time he was in the camps and he was without his father he lost his soul. The ending would have been sadder because it would have showed his loss of soul more and how alone he was.

I think that there would be no point in telling that part of his experience in the camps. Up until that point, things were hard, but he could get through it and had the will to get through it because of his father. After his father died, he had no point in living, so the telling of selections and his own hunger would be useless.

he wouldnt have wqorried as much about his dad and paid more attention to his own survival.

It would be more selfish. He also wouldn't make any contrast with how he was and how he is during the concentration camp. He also would not have worried about his father.

I think the story would not be nearly as "epic" as before his father's death as once Elie's father died, he would probably become depressed and everything Elie sees, feels and hears would be much more bland, as things usually become when one is depressed. Or, I think that after his father's death, he would begin to refer everything to his father. For example, when working in a factory, saying to himself, "i should work hard because "he" would want me to." he being his father.

I don't think adding the time between his father's death and April 11th would have any value to the story. It wouldn't really affect the book except add more personal feelings to it and makeing it a hair smidge longer. It would probably be filled with sad thoughts and anguish of how sad he felt and how upset he was over himself and so on.

I think that it would change the reason for the book. I believe that Elie wrote the book to inform people of the Holocaust. I also think that since Elie and his father were so close and respected eachother so much that once his dad died such a horrible way then it would just make it more depressing. That part of the book would probably be about how alone Elie was during that time.

It would change in that it would give us a different perspective of what happened. It might go into the loss of his mother and father. We would see more of his feelings as opposed to just what happened. It would probably show a different side of Elie.

The book would be more about his life instead of the holocaust. It would have included a lot more of the struggles that he went through at the time.

i think that if they talked about him being freed, then there would be know point in saying all the things he went through. i think it would have made the book stronger if he talked about his dad more. so it would make since to talk about the important things in his life like his dad rather then him being freed. and seeing where he was going to go from there!

It would have been much stressful because the germans was loosing badly and they don't care about the prisoners. He's still trying to be in survival mode and believes his whole family is dead

I think that if he wrote in the book about this period of time that it wouldn't be as useful and relevant to the rest of the story. Elie's attitude and experiences would be different because his father wouldn't have been there when through out the book they were really good companions and buddies. This would change the outcome of the ending because the feeling and mood from these experiences would be different causing the ending to change.

The rest of the book would just be the same thing...Selections, but he knew he'd pass, and didn't have to worry about anyone that he knew passing, he would eat alone, not really associate with anyone...Readers would lose interest.

It would not have started off so cheerfully because he would have had nothing to be happy about. this whole book is about his journey up to the end, but if it started at the end there would have been nothing to write about, other that how depressed he was. the whole book would have been sad and i dont think i would have evjoyed it as much.
